A Man Named Jose Rizal

Dr. Jose Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonzo Realonda, widely known as Jose Rizal, is the greatest Malayan of all-time. He’s known for being the national hero of the Philippines. A man more than just a name, a street, a school, or a hospital – Jose Rizal is the real pundit and will always be remembered.

The 19th day of June 1861 was the day he was born; the day that must be remembered for a man was born to shape the history of the Philippines. After some years of fighting the Spaniards using his pen and paper, he was eventually killed in Bagumbayan. But the mission of Rizal was clear – he will ignite the Filipinos and let them fight for their own freedom. And yes, he was right through all these times; indeed, he is the heart of all Filipinos during those times.

A doctor, a scientist , a philosopher and an educator – those were just some of the faces of Dr. Rizal. Surely, a man to be admired by all people. Maybe that’s why he has so many “women” in his life. Let’s not go any further than that.

He died on the 30th of December 1896. And yes, he almost celebrated the New Year’s Eve. So now, we’re into that date and we must remember all the heroic efforts that Rizal made. Let’s not forget all the teachings and all the courage that Rizal has given to us. Let us also remember that Rizal thought us the importance of freedom – so let’s fight for it until we can. Fighting does not mean killing and hurting others by physical means, but instead using your own self and try to express what you feel. Be the protester of all the wrong things that you see, don’t forget that you’re not just fighting for your rights, but also fighting for others. Let us remember that we all have a little Rizal in our hearts. Let us keep that spirit alive and give importance to what Rizal gave us.

Many are asking for another Rizal, but they don’t know that they can be Rizal in their own little ways. So the day has come and I hope Rizal would always be remembered.

I’m just one of Rizal’s student, and I will always be. And I want to take a bow and give all my respect to Rizal. The real pundit is Rizal, and you’ll always be my hero, our hero.
